Inspiron 3500 and I can't seem to get it to work. I have installed
1.0.13 and have managed to load snd-nm256 by passing the force_ac97=1
option. But still no joy. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get
it working?

I have Ubuntu Edgy installed on a Fujitsu S6240 and sound no longer works -- it worked fine on Breezy and I got it to work on Dapper. I've tried compiling and installing the most recent alsa-driver/libs/utils to no avail. I'm not sure what else I can do. Some of my system info is:
