I think ALSA does not enable the sequencer and OSS support by
default. I would suggest trying an ALSA driver rebuild after running
configure again with the specific options to enable OSS support (which
I suspect you need for Denemo) and the midi soft-sequencer.
./configure --with-sequencer=yes
t; pnp crap and I'm not using an ISA card ... I'm using a als4000 PCI card.

Just wondering how I can find out the MIDI instrument names of
instruments loaded from a sound font?
I am possibly asking the wrong question here as I am new to sound card/midi
