Hello,
I have a Thinkpad R61i with the Conexant CX20549 HDA codec. A lot of the
controls are wrongly wired, with showstopping consequences, such as not
being able to change the mic capture level, resulting in intolerable
distortion.
To get round this I rolled my own kernel with hwdep enabled and
This is a rather strange one...
I went over to OSS4 for a while, and then came back to ALSA, in my attempts
to get audio working properly. Either directly after my return to ALSA or a
little while later I find that every time I restart the machine the ALSA
drivers are deleted from /lib/modules/ .

This is a pair of questions I posed a few weeks ago, although I didn't
get any response. I tried to work round it by switching to OSS4, but it
is too buggy to be usable on my hardware, so it looks like I'll need to
ask the same questions again unfortunately.
The questions, which I shall explai

These symbols must be provided by the kernel. Make sure to enable
CONFIG_SOUND and CONFIG_SOUND_PRIME

Has anyone any idea how to take the mic input level back down again?
Many thanks in advance

I've been having great difficulty making linux correctly choose the
default sound card when it boots. I have a via thingy on the motherboard
and a SB Live in a pci slot. I want the SB Live to be the default sound
card, but sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.
What I used to do in the past was t
needed to use, but this doesn't work. In either postion
the rear mic input is active, but the front one isn't.
I thought I read somewhere that front mic support had been added a while back.
Am I mistaken, or ought this to work now?
Many thanks

Conspiracy B
t clearly distinguishes between mic input level and mic
straight-through output level, whereas kmix does not.
