[Alsa-user] Modules or not ? (CMI8738)

I use Alsa support compiled in my kernel, not modules.. Is it better to use it as a module ? Is there a chance to get more features when using Alsa compiled and loaded as modules ? Is it better to get latest alsa sources, compile them, and use them as modules ? I have a CMI8738 chipset sound card
