its an option in the configure script.
Do "./configure --help" to get a list of all the options available.
There's something like "--oss-emulation=yes"

I'm sorry if this card has been discussed before,
I googled and had a brief look through these archives before
posting, and couldn't find anything.
I downloaded the latest (non-beta) ALSA and installed it with
the appropriate chipset (cs461x)
I read somewhere while googling that the cs461x
