Seriously I'm just guessing though.
Also, are you sure you're not resampling during export in ardour? I
made that mistake once, but I'd hope the default is what the project
is in...
Good luck,

eem to be that you need to
set .asoundrc for it to work with certain apps, and even then it seems
to have problems if you're running pulse to alsa to it, or even
without it sometimes crashes. Not with any jack app, of course, just
other apps, I mean.

Hi everyone!
I'm using an audiophile 2496 with alsa to do some pro audio working, mainly
with ardour and jack.
Unfortunately, I have a big problem with alsa : (automatic) resampling!
Most of the time I can't work on 44100Hz project, even if I run jackd with a
44.1Khz freq, the card internal clock
, PCM and Front controls to the maximum result in a highly distorted
loud output on the right speaker only with speaker-test.
Any possibility the same model name would ship with different sound card
configurations ?
slave Speaker2 Playback
Switch, skipped
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:1127: Cannot find slave IEC958 Playback Switch,
skipped
I tried forcing the model to dell-m4-2 and dell-m4-3 without any luck.
Could anyone help me ? I can patch and recompile the driver is required.
Resolved using a more recent alsa version (update to kernel 2.6.27.8).
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I've a weird problem with the integrated sound card of my ASUS P5GDC
motherboard and it's not related to the sound.
I cannot shutdown my computer if the snd-hda-intel module is loaded.
Computer stays to "Power down".
If I unload the module, it shuts down properly.
I'm actually using Ubuntu
onm the front speakers.
Does this program need a special setting in order to work?
If not, what conclusion can I make? Driver not able to support 4
channels with this hardware?
Anyway, any help, clues on previous experience more then welcome!!!
Thanks and regards

Hi,
I just configured and installed a new 2.6.0 kernel with only alsa sound
support (no oss emulation at all) and it's working great so far.
I'm running a Debian GNU/Linux and using a Creative SBLive!.
My problem is that I can't find a way to load any soundfont to the card.

Hi Takashi
After adding the following line at the end of modules.conf file
" options snd-via82xx index=0 dxs_support=2" ( or 3 )
I do confirm that after a restart, both values are giving the same noisy
sounds for me.
There is no difference at all.
I'm sure i am doing something wrong but why ?

I didn't kept the cvs of the 20030404 but I've tried with cvs of

I've sound only with the cvs version (I've tried with the cvs of 6 hour
ago) not with the 0.9.1 nor 0.9.2 version
Do you tried a look in /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/pci ?

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, I was considering posting here.
My config is 2.4.21pre4 (HIGHMEM) alsa 0.9.0rc7 , my system has 1GB memory.
(the prb was the same with 2.4.21pre3 and 0.9.0rc6)
I'm going to use esd so that /dev/dsp won't be opened every X minutes. :-)

ou can try modprobe snd-card-intel8x0 or
modprobe snd-intel8x0
The alsa driber can replace the i810_audio driver. You have just to have sound support
enabled in your kernel (which often is build as soundcore module, automatically loaded
by modprobe)

o CD, xmms for example seems to produce sound but
nothing... (and of course volume, pcm and all the others are unmuted and with 100%)
The only way i've found to have sound is to load and unload the OSS commercial drivers
(which works perfectly) before starting alsa !
