Firstly, make sure that ALSA is compiled (assuming
you're running form source and not a binary

Oh mate, I dunno too much about this howto, it's using
the specialised Debian method of installing the
drivers form source, I'd recommend for your own sake
doing it the standard source way, unpack the
alsa-driver package and ./configure (with switches)
and then make install, this Debian method is s
G'day mate!
Did you have any config probs under gentoo? I've had a
few quirks under debian with the file hierarchy and
all. Anyway, I usually just use a program like kmix,
set it to the volume settings I prefer, save the
current volume as the default and everytime a program
changes it, fire up kmix
I'm running Debian Woody r1 and got alsa 0.91 and my
nvidia drivers working after I did a kernel
compilation (ask if me you need any help with that). I
had to do some hacking about with a few files here and
there to get alsa working in the end too, giz a shout
if you need help with that, 'cos it t
G'day mate!
I'm pretty sure that the 5.1 should be okay, and I'd
suggest using the source code for ALSA and building it
from there, it's not too hard, unless there is kernel
header problems, in which case you'd have some work to
do. ;) Anyway, with source built versions of ALSA, you
can be running
G'day all,
probably a an FAQ something chronic, but I've got an
EMU10K1, SB Live! with alsa 0.9.1 drivers, done with
./configure --with-sequencer=yes, but hte bass and
treble controls don't do anything.
as this is probably very common, would someone be able
to help me from there?
cheers!

Hi all! :)
I was just about to try compiling another release of
alsa, and was wondering about some things I should do
first. I'm running Red Hat 7.3 and was wondering what
I should do with the kernel first. Should I do
something like "make mrproper", "make oldconfig" and
"make dep"?
Is there any
Thanks mate. :)
Okay, I think there were compilation errors, any use
of alsa programmes ends in a segmentation fault, so I
took the liberty of copying some errors down.
*** these were errors that occured during the make
install script ***
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.18-3cu
G'day all!
I've had a LOT of trouble with RC6 of alsa 0.9, and
was wondering if anyone had actually had success with
alsa 0.9 on RH 7.3?
If people have had success, is anyone planning on
writing a howto?
cheers all! :)
