I found the problem. The error was in the .asoundrc file.
The line "0 pcm:playback_1" should have been "0 system:playback_1"

Hi,
I am having trouble getting alsa and jackd to work on Fedora14. I have had
this working on a much older version.
I have disabled pulseaudio by removing the rpm (I hope this is enough).
My .asoundrc file looks like this:
# use this as default
pcm.!default {
type plug
slave { pcm "jack" }
}
I haven't used
alsa before so I might be missing something obvious here.
The -c doesn't have any effect. Selecting a different device with -D
makes aplay report 'Sample format non available'.
What's the magic incantation needed? Any pointer welcome.
TIA.

aplay with
-c and have tried to play around with the hw device.
Any pointers much appreciated.
