Sound via line-in is ways to low. The problem is, that channel 'pcm' is
many times 'louder' compared to channel 'line-in'. In windows, they
have nearly the same level...
Is there any way to change this? (Any hard coded parameters in the
source?)

i had a similar problem. maybe this will help you:
start alsamixer and make sure the channels 'VIA DXS' are all set to
100%.
Did you use KDE? On my system, kmix (or kcontrol or whatever) reset
these channels to zero. A 'dpkg-reconfigure alsa-base' solved the
