According to your info on pastebin, you are specifying model=w2jc, when
your subsystem ID indicates it should be an asus_a7m. Try removing any
"option snd_hda_intel model=" lines from /etc/modprobe.conf
or /etc/modprobe.d/* files and reboot. See if that fixes the issue. If
not, your system may
First off, please try to upgrade your drivers to 1.0.16 or newer (see
http://alsa-project.org).
This really helps, as the driver development has been fast and furious
over the last couple of years, and your issues may have been resolved in
a newer version.
If you still have problems with the late

Hi everyone.
I have similar problems with my Realtek ALC880 on fujitsu-siemens amilo
pi1536 laptop. Reading your reply I hoped you can help me too.
This is my result of alsa-info.sh http://pastebin.ca/932299
Thank you.

In alsamixer, the opening screen is for output controls. If this is
where you are adjusting the mic volume, it is just the loopback mixer,
which sends the mic input back through the speakers. Press tab to
select the input controls, and adjust the mic there. Press to

Hello.
I have on my laptop an internal HDA card with a Realtek ALC882 codec.
It works ok, except for the microphone embedded in the laptop.
I have unmuted it in alsamixer; I can hear myself on the speakers when I
speak, but arecord doesn't record my voice.
What did I miss?
Thanks.

have you tried to be a little more specific on your usage?
$ speaker-test -c 2 -D hw:0
$ aplay -D hw:0 -t wav -f S16_LE -r 48000 Vincent.wav
$ arecord -D h

Hello, All!
I found out that XDTV is able to capture sound from the alsa PCM device
(Sb live "in" from AverMedia TV card) only if Sb live has modindex "0"
(default sound device).
But I prefer to use Usb-sound as default device. Is it possible to
force XDTV capture sound from sound device that ha

Hi,
after installationof a HIS HD 2600XT graphics card, my on board nvidea
ac97 stopped working.
The hardware detection (mandriva 2008) tells me about an nvida
audio-controller and a radeon hd 2600 "soundcard" besides the ac97. So
obviously the graphics card comes with some sort of on board sou
