Yes, I thought those rates looked strange too.
CDs work just fine, at least, so did everything else before I installed
KDE.
I did a reinstall of everything, and everything worked right up until
artsd started for the first time. I was listening to music and heard
the music drop a few octaves.

But actually I record radio a lot with ecasound, which has the
advantage, that it can be put into a cronjob and thus can even record,
when I'm away/asleep.
I can recommend also KHdRecord at http://software.jodda.de/record.html.
The timer is configurable from within the program.

I tried yesterday eve to switch my working 2 channels sound system to 4

I would not reboot, but just try to stop and start the usb bus.
Eg on Mandrake, edit the /etc/init.d/usb

Hi!
I have an HP vectra Pentium 3 with (terrible) on board sound card
intel8x0.
I compile ALSA stable (0.9...) in kernel 2.4.25 (woody).Every thinks
works well!! :-
But "alsactl store" don't save permanently, after reboot I have to do
alsaconf!!! (Sorrry but I'm not expert).

Hi, I'm getting these crashes about once a day. The music just stops for

Bill,
I haven't heard back from you since your first reply to my reply to
Casey's posting. You commented about airfare and asked for details of my
problem and I emailed you that I had posted the details over the last
couple of weeks. I haven't heard back from you, so I thought I'd post again.
Hi,
I try to install my sound card, on my laptop packard bell igo 5541,
using ALSA drivers.
"alsaconf" command detects my card but my computer freezes during sound
test just after detection, and i don't know why and how to correct ?!
I have installed: alsa-driver-1.0.2c-1.fr.i386.rpm,
alsa-lib-1.
This is a follow up to a previous post about problems with the VIA
VT8235 abd streaming audio.
I said, heh how about mp3s?. Same problem, except it comes and goes.
Plays bad for several seconds, clears up for a while and then sounds bad
for several seconds.

One is mic +20 db gain (this is only on/off switch)
and mic volume (on/off + volume 0 - 100).
Look at top of alsamixer for detail label.
Also there was bug for ALC650 rev E and higher (rev >= 2) and with
mic not powered.
