I have compiled the 2.6.0 kernel with alsa enabled. It isn't working.
I am not getting any errors from any command. Here are some outputs to

Hello,
I scanned through the archives last night and I didn't find an answer.
Please forgive me if I missed the answer.
I have a Dell Latitude XPi CD laptop with Gentoo Linux and the 2.6
kernel. According to Dell the sound card is a non-pnp ISA ESS 1887.

Hi Alain,
Thanks very much for this ~ it worked like a charm! I had messed around
with the /etc/pcmcia files but obviously messed it up.
Cheers!

Hi Alistair Matthews,
Apparently VXpocket V1 and VXpocket V2 have the same firmware and CSID.
Your VXpocket V1 could work with the ALSA driver, but I have not tested it personnaly.
Did you copy /usr/src/alsa-driver-XXX/pcmcia/vx/vxpocket.conf (or vxp440.conf) to
/etc/pcmcia, and restart pcmcia

Hi,
somebody send me a working patch for emu10k1 to enable routing from line-in to
front and rear but my HDD is dead and I lost all my data including this

Could you send it to me once more, please.
Many thanks.
Best regards

Hi, this seems to be the same error I get.
see '[Alsa-user] "modprobe snd-ymfpci" results in "init_module: No such device"' just
a few messages before yours.
At least I'm not alone on this.
I didn't change the /etc/modules.conf file yet, since the walk trough didn't say to do so yet.
