Rerecently I purchased Creative Digital 5500 5.1 speakers and I started

I doubt this will be fixed soon, because it doesn't seem that anyone who
has this card also has the knowledge+time+motivation to get it
working.. :(
Takashi, Clemens: would it be useful to ask M-Audio exactly how the
Audiophile deviates from the spec?

Hi
I decided to try to find out what the problems I've been having with my
ALSA setup were myself, and I used the ALSA howto and wrote a small test
program (attached).
The strange thing is that when I set the rate to 48000 I get
"Error setting HW params. Invalid argument."
I can set the rate to

would be no problem, but now I am unable to complile the alsa drivers. I've
This is a heartfelt request for anyone who has

whatever config files need to be loaded, plus some

When I asked yesterday... I was told it isn't something you can do with
current code...
You could try a SB Live! or a cheap envy24ht-s card( like the Chaintech
av710 )

Hello all,
I have a via 82c686a soundcard. I've just updated the kernel to 2.4.18
and installed alsa, but when I try to use mplayer (with alsa for sound
output) and xmms (with the alsa plugin) xmms crashes if mplayer is
playing. So I guess that multiplexing doesn't work, but I don't really
kno
Ok - I made the modifications you mentioned - then it worked and I could run
alsamixer. Then I tried to play a wav-file but the system crashed - after a
reboot this is the latest error output :
