I have what is probably a very stupid question. How do I get alsamixer
to save its state? Every time I reboot it comes up as having the sound
completely muted.

But the driver to use depends on your southbridge. (For Intel

I currently have in my box a sound blaster 128 card, which I am having
very weird problems with. I got it working yesterday (I thought), but
when I reset my computer this morning, alsasound and trouble loading my
drivers during boot. I edited my modules .conf correctly I think so I do

I knew what makes aplay working sometimes and why I can not hear from my

I just backported Debian unstable ALSA packages to my stable
system. Current ALSA version packaged in the unstable branch is 0.9.4.
The script /etc/init.d/alsa includes calling alsactl store on stopping
and alsactl restore on starting, so mixer settings are saved between
