Hi,
I have tried this with 0.9.0rc7 and CVS from 09. feb, but I can not
get it to work.
I run ./configure with the --with-cards=es1968 since I got a "ESS
Technology ES1978 Maestro 2E (rev 16)" card in a laptop.
Configure runs without any problems, install works and modules are

Hi,
there is a via8233a soundchip on my Epox 8KMM motherboard, that I cannot get
to work with ALSA. I am running a Debian/Woody system with ALSA version

TO all those who took time to reply: Thanks. I really have no idea what
the problem was (is). I grabbed the latest version, compiled and
installed and all is now working. I suspect one of two:
1. The version which comes with Mandrake 9.0 is not good.
2. The debugging links are bad. I complile
Hello,
I've updated my system with the cvsexport 2003-02-08 version
System: shuttle MV42N motherboard with a VT8233 chip (ac97 codec)
System: Debian, kernel 2.4.20-686 P4 celeron 1700 Mhz.
No codec_ready: codec 0 errors any more in dmesg.
But no sound yet.
In dmesg i get the following message:
Using rc7, I have all mixers set to muted and volume at 0.
I have no problem with sound if I set it with alsamixer.
Becoming root and run /etc/init.d/alsactl start|store when the machine
is up saves correctly the values into /etc/asound.state.
But if I hit halt|shutdown| ctr-alt-del, the alsactl

this driver but I would try some of the other sound blaster modules and
