[Alsa-user] intel i810 motherboard audio

Hi,
I am trying to get alsa to work and when I try to modprobe I get this error. Any ideas?

modprobe snd-intel8x0
Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.20/modules.dep
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: invalid parameter parm_snd_major
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o failed

my sound cards is intel810 audio built into the motherboard, and I used the directions from the alsa-project website. Any help would be appreciated.
