Hello,
I want to use my S/PDIF-Port for AC3-Passthrough to my
receiver. For now I use the OSS driver (es1371) with little
modifications that it activates the digital out.
The PCM-output works fine via s/pdif. So my question:
is it possible to activate ac3-passthrough with the alsa-driver?

Hi,
I joined the list because I have recently installed alsa 0.9.0rc2 and have had
the same problem as George described in the thread:
"amixer failure: "Invalid CTL default"."
When I run alsamixer I receive the error:
mixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory

I think you'll find with
'rpm -qf /lib/modules/2.4.18-8.1mdk/alsa/snd-seq-device.o.gz' that it's
part
of the new kernel RPM, not your newly installed rc2 :) HTH,
Mark,

kCd (the CD player that comes with KDE 3.0) and get no sound.

All,
I am new to alsa, so please be patient with me - I had to use alsa to get
here xawtv using an ATI radeon video card.
I have successfully implemented the following on my Slackware 8.1 Linux
machine, running the 2.4.19 kernel, using the following:
alsa-driver-0.9.0rc2
alsa-lib-0.9.0rc2

I have Mandrake 8.2 running with the updated kernel: 2.4.18-8.1mdk
I have installed the kernel source rpm.
I have followed Jaroslav's instructions for my sound card: Delta 66
The driver, lib and utils all build successfully. When it comes time
to: modprobe snd-ice1712
I get:
/lib/modules/2.4
