Hi Toni, thanks for taking the time to report this issue. NM does not
store certificates. Your configuration just point to files over your
disk. So yes it's logicial that removing this file break your VPN
connexion. Does not look a but to me. Therefore, the error message could

With network-manager-openvpn, the process is launched with the current
user, not root powered. I'm nut sure I see the point of wanting to have
yet another user just for this.

connexion only for resources on its network".
