[AFMUG] Mounting antenna to a flat ribed metal roof

2020-06-13 Thread Matt Hoppes
I need to mount a small antenna to the rooftop of a building. The roof is flat metal, but it has 6” high ribs every 3 ft. _/\_/\_/\__ Any ideas on how to mount to this/non pen it? -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com

Are the ribs compressible? IOW, do the ribs have a gap between the sides? I'm thinking you could make a clamp (or two, or three) that clamps your mounting platform to the top of a couple of adjacent ribs. If that's not possible, you could always go to a magnetically mounted tripod. bp On

Depends on the exact style but we usually do a standard non-pen mount on a mat with clips like these to keep it from sliding: https://www.unistrutohio.com/s-5-s-clamp-for-standing-seam-roof-?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI--Kx-av_6QIVZeyGCh2ruQJFEAQYAiABEgLO8_D_BwE

Is it flat as in no slope? Or minimal pitch? We have used a small 2-block non-pen on a rubber mat, like one of these: https://www.aisatellite.com/product/universal-non-penetrating-patio-mount/ I’m talking about a small antenna like an SM, with minimal wind load. If the roof has zero or

If it’s a commercial building with a “standing seam” metal roof, the solar panel industry has all sorts of clamps for fastening to the seams. I think Mark posted one source. From: AF On Behalf Of Matt Hoppes Sent: Saturday, June 13, 2020 1:55 PM To: AnimalFarm Microwave Users Group Subject

A 6" standing seam is way taller than anything I've ever seen. The ones I'm familiar with are 2" at the most. bp On 6/13/2020 2:55 PM, Ken Hohhof wrote: If it’s a commercial building with a “standing seam”
