Circling back to this
The D18 33kHz sonde worked great with the vSCAN. Even down to 15' which was
the deepest duct we needed to trace. What surprised me was the 512 sewer
sondes.

You might need a locator that matches the frequency of the flushable beacon.

Thanks Chuck, Do you think a 12" duct sonde might work better? I am going to

Last question... (tonight)...
How close does the Sonde have to be to what the receiver is?
I have an existing Ditch Witch 150R receiver which says it works with 30kHz
sondes.
I am thinking about buying the Metrotech vScan which says it works with

Trying to do this with a 4K budget. Is a locator either good or bad or is
there a middle ground where they don't work well.

there is also the vermeer lin of locators. massive option set, LM42 is
pretty efficient and can find most things in the ISP domain. SPX25 is good

Any consensus on locators? We need to buy a new one too. The only one I

be too high end.

USIC Uses radiodetection gear, currently they are using the RD-8200.
We just bought a couple RD-7200 new this year and they are very nice
units. Fiber will always locate better if you can attach to the locate
terminal on a splice case vs using the induction clamp FYI.
