First time I did it I fully expected the brake cleaner to melt plastic and
ruin the phone. Whatever solvent it is made from seems to not harm the
speaker diaphragm at least.

I just always buy a waterproof iphone case with decent reviews off
amazon. Scrub the case every few months instead of the iphone itself.
Got to read the reviews to find one with decent audio though. Buy a
lifeproof waterproof case if you want the best.

Once again I got my iPhone speaker full of grease and dirt while pressure
washing. Almost lost all audio. Once again I hosed it out with liberal
quantities of brake cleaner. Works like new.
