Hi All
Our current TSM Server running on AIX 4.3.3 is at version 5.1.5.0.
Obviously a few levels behind now and am planning to upgrade. Just wanted
peoples opinions as to what TSM Server levels they have found to be reliable
beyond 5.1.5.0. Should I go straight for 5.1.6.5??

Hi All
A couple of questions about the way in which disk storage pools are used. I
had a quick look in the manuals but couldn't find an answer
basically, i want to know if more than once backup session can access a disk
pool volume at a time
also if i have three disk pool volumes and 4 migrations
HI all
Last week we got page mismatch errors during database backups on our
production tsm server. In the end we restored from a previous good database
backup on the understanding that a dsmserv audit db would take too long.
However me being curious, I copied across the database dsm files when

We are currently in the middle of restoring some file and print (win2000)

Hi all
A basic question...
tapes are non collocated
if you kick off a restore of multiple directories on a win2k client will TSM
mount a tape and get all the data off that tape for the directories
concerned then move on to the next volume, or does it restore sequentially
one directory at a time,
Hi all
Hoping someone can help with this "opportunity" we have...
For a number of our existing clients we have changed them from using
non-collocated to collocated storage. Obviously the next step is to use the
move nodedata command to move the old primary data across into the new
primary colloca

Just wondered if anyone has upgraded from LTO to LTO2, and what difference
this made if any, to restore times and stgpool backup times.

Hello TSMers
A question regarding how TSM monitors files that have changed..
On win2000, TSM client 5.1.5.2, we have found that if we lose a drive and
have to do a complete restore onto a new disk (but with same windows drive
letter), the first time we do a inc backup, everything gets backed up.
Hi All
This is my first attempt at getting LAN free backups working from a win2k

Hi
Well the quest for lan free backups continues
I got past my initial problems by upgrading storage agent to 5.1.5.4 (same
level as server)
Yesterday I managed to run an image backup lan free, 150Gb in 1hr 15 minutes
so was quite happy with that. However when I went to restore it 5 minutes
us your backup might be not restoreable.

Hi All
Well my lan free backup/restore is now working to my onsite library.
However one little niggle is that even though the tape storage pool I'm
writing to has the copystgpool parameter set (pointing to offsite storage
pool) it doesn;t seem to work. The copystgpool parameter works on another

Hi All
I just wondered if anyone else has had problems with their 3584's and there
network connectivity.
The two 3584s that I run have both recently gone off the air,i.e I can't
ping them. They both have green link lights on the NIC. They are set to
100/Full although I have tried Auto and 100/ha
rred option.
Restarting the network on the library itself didn't work for us and we
haven't found another way but rebooting the libraries.

Karel

I just wanted to clarify a couple of things
We currently have a 3584 with LTO1 drives. TSM Server is win2k and at

From reading various articles I know that with version 5.2 I should be able
to run both LTO1 and LTO2 drives within one logical library,ie no

Have a look at TSM Operational Reporting. This now comes with TSM 5.2 and
will produce the kind of reports you want on email and in html.

Hi All
I want to know whether there is a way to restore "only" ntfs file
permissions on win2k. We are running tsm server 5.2.2.1 and 5.2 clients.
The reason for this is that last night during some maintenance, a windows
drive (all directories and files) lost all its permissions. The directories
ssions back on your files and
directorys.
