One other item I forgot to mention: I laid out different logical volumes for my
disk pools, with different sizes and such on the new server. The test copy of
the database didn't seem too happy with that, even though they had the same
names, so before I did the final move of the database and logs,
Tomas:
I just completed a hardware and software upgrade over the weekend.
My old environment: RS/6000 H-50 quad processor, 1 Gb memory, running AIX 4.2.1,
and ADSM 3.1.1.5. ADSM was sharing this box with a number of applications and a
Sybase replication server.
My new environment: RS/6000 H-70
Environment:
Server: TSM 4.1.0.0 running over AIX 4.3.3.0 ML6
Clients: Mostly TSM 4.1.x running over either NT4SP5 or AIX 4.2.x or 4.3.x
Since we upgraded to TSM from ADSM 3.1 in April, we've found great benefit
(for security and troubleshooting purposes) in the admin command logging on
the serve
rk, and ADSM client) to maximize restore performance, especially in the
case of a large amount of data (10-100 Gb) all at once to a single ADSM client?
Please copy me directly on any answer, as I receive the list digest and it seems
to foul up at least two or three days a week.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
s,
and I will gladly repent, go forth and retain no more (or at least no more than
I have to).
Thanks for the enlightenment.

The fact that it's unsupported give due regard, I can state empirically
that the 2.1.x.x client does appear to work to a 4.1.0.0 server, at least
on the following platforms: SunOS 4.1.4, Windows 3.1, and a fairly old
version of SCO Open Server (not sure of exact rev).

eral of my client

I'm now officially confused. Any and all guidance would be appreciated.

gly enough, FORCE=YES and OVERRIDE=YES both mean that the client
cannot override the server setting.

It may not help you now, but you might consider putting measures in place
to help you in the future, to wit:
I keep only 14 days' worth of activity log in the database, but I run a
cron job at 00:15 nightly that extracts the previous day's activity log to
a flat text file, named with the date.
I'
output, but it only referred to help text.
Any words of wisdom on either problem?
