Any ideas appreciated.

I am wondering if my inventory expiration elapsed times are typical. Examining
just under 8,000,000 objects and deleting between 139k and 200k objects taking
between 7.5 and 8.75 hours. Running on AIX 5.3 on a new P-series machine. TSM
5.3.4.
Also, running some storage pool backups for the fir
t's the case.

I'm working on a disaster recovery scenario where our TSM server (AIX) and tape
library (3584)that has 90 LTO tapes in tape pools is destroyed and several other
servers are destroyed. We have approx. 85 copy pool tapes off site.
Our thought is to recreate the TSM server via mksysb, restore the T
above. Especially when a "fill in" person has to take
care of the volume
checkout process.

I have a process on a windows system that creates about 400gig of data each
day. It dumps this data
each day to a different directory. Monday's to "monday", Tuesday's to
"tuesday" etc.
I only want tsm to backup the data in that day's directory and not any of the
other days.
I'm currently us
that scan behavior,
consider installing the journal engine.

o the new and change
its schedule association what will happen to the data that was backed up
? Will TSM treat it as "deleted files" and use the "versions data
deleted" and "retail only verstion" attributes to expire the files ? Or
not and keep the active files ?
will
see a LOT of funky error messages about backup copy groups not existing for
file xx, which essentially says that there is no management class.

James,
Do a "query volume" and look at the "pct util" column for the tapes
offsite. Compare that value with the Reclamation Threshold for your
pool. If there are a lot of tapes that meet that threshold and they
don't come back when they should then you should look to make sure the
