The TSM Space Manager (HSM) only supports AIX. You would need to use the OTG
Disk Extender for a Windows environment.

Hello all,
We recently purchased IBM 3592-J1A tape drives and are in the process of
converting from 3590-E1A in our 3494 library. The TAPEPOOL migration is
going well using "move data" command. But we are stuck on how to migrate our
COPYPOOL01 (3590-E1A) to COPYPOOL02 (3592-J1A). There is the ugly

Yes, you need to zone tape drives to the machine running Storage Manager.
Multiple tape drives can use the same HBA.
Tape and Disk cannot coincide on the same HBA. You need a separate adapters
for disk and tape. This stems from the days of S360 (and earlier?) where
there were seperate channels for
r redundancy.

I am just installing TSM Space Manager (HSM) on an AIX machine. Though this
will not be an HACMP install, the README states that only JFS2 can be used in
an HACMP environment...

Make sure that you have the "Mount Limit" set correctly in your 3592 device

We just purchased the Tivoli Storage Manager for Microsoft SharePoint. I
haven't installed it yet, so I can't tell you how well it works... Looks like
there are numerous features. A bit pricey too...
This TDP is a rebranding of "AvePoint DocAve"...

Check out the "Maximum Size Threshold" that is defined for the disk pool
in question. Perhaps you are trying to back up a file larger than the
threshold and now TSM needs to mount a tape to handle that file...

Hello Tuncel,
We had a similar situation trying to back up servers in our DMZs. The firewall
would drop the connection after a while and communications would be lost
between the TSM Server and the client in the DMZ.
To get around this, we had to set the TSM client "SCHEDMODE" directive to
"POL
We are using TKLM (Tickle 'em) also.
Compression first, then encryption. I was told our 3592-E06 (TS1130)
drives would experience <1% degradation (Negligable) in performance
while encrypting. Your tape drive model/manufacturer experience may
vary, but probably not much.

Hi Charles,
I recently discovered same thing. We are on TSM Server 5.5.5.2. I don't
have an answer yet...
I was able to correlate the TSM Client log with the TSM Server activity
log. See if you can correlate the messages on your client and server
with the same time stamp.
Here is what I see in
