is that TSM will not use more than four processors. Any truth to this?

I don't remember at what client level the syntax changed, but at client
level 5.2 you can add a "testflag instrument:detail" to your dsm.opt and
generate a report to dsminstr.report file that details how the session
is spending it's time.

that does what you want. Matter of fact, do a "q script" and get
familar with the supplied scripts. Some of them are quite useful and

with the appropriate privs to run dsmc or dsm, you can restore without
supplying a password. If the restore is from another box, we used an
appropriately prived admin id which eliminates the need to know the node

it to complete before moving on to the next. TSM does not queue up the

I did an upgrade from 5.1.6.3 to 5.2.3.1 without incident. Just
remember that in addtion to the 5.2.3.x code, you'll need a 5.2.0.0 base
code. I think you also need an imtermidate level, maybe 5.2.2.0. Do a
"preview yes" install to make sure you have all the needed levels. I'm

It turns out that what I missed is that on AIX for 3592 drives you have to
enable 8 characters at the 3584 AND via a "smitty devices" on the Library Media
Changer (smc0) which translates to a " chdev -l 'smc0' -a tsm_barcode_len='8'

Is anyone using the DRM scripts generated by the PREPARE command in conjunction
with a fiber attached remote library? How do you deal with the fact that the
tapes in the remote library are not "offsite" as far as DRM is concerned so
that they get included in the script that marks onsite tapes a
I **think** what might be happening if that since the 2nd node was already
collocated and has data on tape, the backup stg pool is trying to fill the
existing tape with that node's data.

Our TSM DB is on raided enterprise disk (IBM DS8100 behind a SAN Volume
control) as is our TSM LOGs. We run our logs in roll forward mode. The odds
of losing both the DB and LOG except in a DR situation is small. If we have to
restore the DB, we can roll forward us
