TSM running on AIX does not have a facility to assign K tapes to one storage pool and J tapes to another like I could do on MVS. My workaround is to predefine all K tapes to my onsite storagepools and let my J tapes be scratches. Onsite storagepools get a maxscratch of zero so they only use the predefined K tapes. Offsite storagepools have a maxscratch greater than zero so they use the scratch J tapes.
