Hello,
We did a new install of TSM 7.1.4 just to check it out.
(ok, we screwed up a upgrade on a test instance and decided to do a new/clean
install.)
After doing this install, it comes up with these messages:

Hi Richard,
The license can be installed from the 7.1.3 server package, available on
Passport Advantage.
Best regards,

Hello Rick,
Last time I checked Passport Advantage, I only had 7.1.3 available for
download and the license file from 7.1.3 works fine in 7.1.4 and 7.1.5. If
you check your 7.1.3 files, you'll find the license there.
Can anyone from IBM tell me why 7.1.4 or 7.1.5 is not available on the

Trying to remember things is getting harder and harder . . . .
I agree, on Passport Advantage there is no 7.1.4 or 7.1.5 for AIX.
(There IS a 7.1.4 server for Linux and S390.)
So, where did I get AIX 7.1.4 . . . Looks like from Fix Central.
AIX 7.1.4 and 7.1.5 are available on Fix Central.

I am getting this error on three different TSM for VE VBS servers today.
Waiting 60 minutes for each VM is causing the schedule to run into the next
days schedule (the job runs for over 24 hours). I have to stop and restart
the service to snap it out of this mode and hope the next backup runs OK.
I second this question. So the answer we got from our storage software sales
team is to download 7.1.3, extract the license file. Then, download the
version you want to want to use, extract and install that, then copy the file
over. Seems like way more work than it should be. Do we only get

Been dealing with this type of issue on the various TDP software packages for

Hi all,
The IBM Spectrum Protect server package is updated with a new license when
the code is "re-based", i..e, that new level is being established as a new
base level of the software (not necessarily an x.x.0.0 level). It is the
re-based server packages that are put on Passport Advantage. 7.1.3.
I actually tried this. I looked in the 7.1.3 install tree, but couldn't figure
out where dsmlicense was hidden. When TSM used AIX native installp filesets it
was easy to hunt down something.

What I’ve been doing for some time is:
1- extract both 7.1.3 and 7.1.4 each in it’s own directory of course
2- install only the license from 7.1.3
3- install only the server from 7.1.4
this works perfectly. Yes it requires some diskspace and copying of software
you’ll never install, but that’s i
Andi,
It seems it would make this easier for the customers if IBM included the
license with the newer levels (which are recommended for download), so that
IBM's base level issue becomes irrelevant. It would simplify this for our
users for sure!

Hello Ben,
The license files are only included in the "protected area" of Passport
Advantage.
The "open" FTP area contains software without the licenses. Except for the
BA client.
@Andy,
It would help a lot if -only- the license pack was available at Passport
Advantage.
Now we need to download ov
