I went out looking for firmware updates for my IBM 3592E06 drives that live
in my IBM 3583 Library. I realized I needed to go to Fix Central from the
last time I went looking (a year ago) and couldn't find them on the FTP
site.
What I wasn't expecting is the need for my tape drive serial numbers
I don't know if it's documented anywhere but that hit us as well. That,
and our datamovers aren't purging the c:\windows\temp directory after a
backup operation.
Ah, the joys of being on the bleeding edge.

I don't know, but it's probably within the past 6 months. HP started the
same campaign on 1-Jan-2014.
It's a ridiculous - you pay for the hardware, and expect to be able to keep
at least the firmware up-to-date.

This is exactly what we experienced when Oracle bought Sun. Except we /did/
have support contracts for all our hardware, but Oracle kept "losing" them.
It took us almost two years to get it all straightened out.

Hi.
That has been like that for years. X-servers, p-servers, storage systems, etc.
need to be on at least NBD IBM hardware support to get firmware code. My boss
has not been happy with IBM hardware support when IBM made the change a few
years ago. So, we placed most of our IBM ha
Same here. We were a mostly SUN shop (for the big, critical applications -
for everything else there are Windows servers) until Oracle bought them and
screwed us. Since then, we have been phasing out ALL SUN hardware and
software. Now it is mostly big Dell servers running RedHat Linux.

Hello all,
we too have been successfully had all of our IBM equipment (xSeries,
pSeries, storage, SVC, tape libraries, SAN directors) handeled by a

Hi, Skylar. Have you tried setting your MOUNTWAIT to 0 or 1? It seems
to me that should allow the operator request to time out and your
processing to continue.

Is the client Windows? If so, you should have been using the DIRMC

But, now that you are restoring, it's too late for that. Halt the
