Hi All,
I've just installed the Admin Center for 6.2 on a Windows 2003 box (W2K3
R2 SP2). Initially it ran fine, but after an hour or so I noticed that
the service had stopped. Now I'm not able to get connected to the TIP
anymore, although the service is running and I can do a telnet to port

Hi Richard:
Have you tried stopping and starting the service?
Does it work if you use the URL: https://:16316/ibm/console ?
Is it possible that some other application has take over port 16310? When

Hi James:
The 6.2 release to the TSM Administration Center moved to the Tivoli
Integrated Portal (TIP) as its framework. TIP has
other component deployers that require that TIP be installed as non-root.
If you are not planning to use TIP with any other
products, you can install as root.

Hello everyone !
I don't know if somebody has this kind of problem, but I have the following
situation in the company I work for:
- We have a TSM team to install, configure and maintain the whole backup
process, server and client;
- We have sysadmins that take care of the operational system and t
Greetings,
I have a customer running TSM 6.1.3 on a Linux RedHat 5.4 server.
They are using high-performance SAN attached disk for the TSM database
and logs. They have created the TSM database all in one directory under
one filesystem. Recently then needed to add more space, and they carved

It would probably not be a problem with it working, but with the two
lun's concatenated, there is probably little to no chance DB2 will be
able spread the I/O out among the 2 lun's. If it's in a separate
filesystem, DB2 will spread the data out across them. It will be even
worse with 3, 4, 5, or
Hi John,
We are running TSM 6.1.3.3 on AIX 6.1 and we already increased TSM DB2
Database space twice using the same Filesystem (directory). TSM documentation
only mention the use of a new filesystem to increase the size of the DB using
EXTEND DBSPACE new_filesystem . I don't think extend
Ours is designed the same, I asked the same questions and was given the
following advice:
The alternative to specifying multiple database directories is to use hardware
RAID controller or LVM to assemble multiple disks into a single
filespace/directory, You don't get the benefit of DB2's stri
Maybe you could lock all the nodes during the day (LOCK NODE...),
and unlock them at night for your scheduled backups ... ?

When you install TSM, only grant execute access to the TSM team and the account
the backup runs under.

Thanks for the answers !
About the sugestions:
- I can't lock the nodes during the day, because several backups run every
2, 4 and 6 hours;
- Lock the admin is a good sugetsion, although not possible...
- The admins have the administrator/root password, so they can do
anything...
- Is not the occ
I have been testing TSM 6.2 on a P570 P5 8 core 32GB box (I'm kinda
lucky right now to have that as a test box).
I am attending TSM 6.1 Advanced Admin and Tuning class right now, and
found out some stuff about Deduplication that I didn't know. So, I
went to delete all the filespaces in the syste
