As long as the labels dont collide with labels you alread
Hi Mehdi,
It is recommended to specify the sequence while ordering labels so you
don't have tapes with the same labels. While "labeling in" or "checkin
in" pre-labeled tapes in the library, you will need to know the label
sequence or at least the range. Past that, TSM will manage the tapes

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to get a good idea of the proper way to backup a Windows 2008
server's system state with the TSM client. The TSM client is version 5.5.1.0.
What statements need to be put into the dsm.opt file? Or is this supposed to
be a separate process from the regular differential

Hi George
Hi *,
We are currently looking at upgrading our TSM 5.4.3 AIX server running two
instances ( each instance database size is around 120Gb ). Reading some
documentation on the IBM site, I see the database conversion takes a very long
time. If anyone has done the upgrade, what was your experience

Thanks Km & Ken!
The way that was described is too risky we increased the retention time
on the backup sets that solves the most important issue.

A couple of things come to mind:
1. What is the extra right/closing parenthesis at the end of the command?
Maybe part of the surrounding script syntax, but appears out of place in
the context of the snippet.
2. Does TEMP_MSI_LOG contain blank spaces, and if so, does it have double
quotes around i
Anybody implemented Fastback for Windows VMWare guests?
Am I correct that it would eliminate the need to use VCB? If Fastback can
do full system restores (aka BMR on a physical machine) I wouldn't need to
create fullvm snapshots of the guests, right?
Anybody tried a Fastback full system restore
Hi Wanda,
I too have had little response to Fastback questions here.
I implemented a Fastback server (our first) at a client site that had guest
machines. We installed the Fastback client on each guest and are treating
the clients as if they were physical machines. It is my understanding,

I imagine we have to reinstall/upgrade the Atape driver, but can anyone

Not sure how helpful this is but I have installed TSM 5.5.3 on an existing
AIX 6.1 server with no issues.

Is there any log in the ISC/AC (ICS 6.01 and AC 5.5) that would show me who
logged on from where at a particular time? I have a client (inherited) That
has people all using the ADMIN userid and some's been updating schedules and
completely mucking up the works. From the activity log I can trace the
Hi Wanda,
I help a Swedish Business Partner with FastBack DR and when you are using
VMware ESX 3.5 server as DR Hardware you need to make manually inject the
drivers to the vim file on the FB BMR CD.
Another wise it works OK.
