It is different from DBBackup - there are specific load/unload abilities
in TSM. The process results in the DB being re-orged. We recently went
through the process and approximatley halved the size of our 120GB DB,
the gain is fairly short lived though. The re-org was around 8 weeks ago

That sounds promising. Thanks Bill.
We use flashcopy to copy the file system to one mounted on another client
and backup from there - can I ask if you run online or offline Image

Good summary, Richard, but just to clarify:
If POSTSCHEDULECMD fails, then the schedule will be considered to have

Our unload/reload what about 10 weeks ago and halved our database from

it is however taking longer than immediately after the process...

We have a 112gb database that is 83% utilized and it only takes 30 minutes

Either I have a real fast server or you have a real slow one!

Is this client maybe in cluster environment?
I have seen where if TSM recommended cluster backup is not setup, it will
fail to backup cluster drives after failover.

Well, the straightforward TSM way to keep files in a diskpool, is to
remove the NEXTSTGPOOL value from the definition of the storage pool (so
that the files have no place to migrate to), or set the HIGHMIG stgpool
pool property to 100%, so that migration will never start.
The most practical way to

Could use some help from any Windows gurus out there:
HOW do I keep Windows from changing the addresses of the TSM devices?
This server is Win2K3 (but the same thing has occurred on Win2K), TSM is

There are fibre connections from 2 HBA's to 2 different SAN switches.

Welcome to Microsoft's inability to handle SANs!
Seriously, Windows has no facility to persistently bind devices and

seeing--whenever there is a discontinuity between a Windows server and
its fiber-connected devices, there may (probably w
Not sure if this what you can use.. in TSM for stgpool there is an option

this could save you some time during "meltdown."

I believe what you want is "persistent binding" setup for your HBAs.

I have 36 drives.
It did happen on Linux and Windows. For sure you need to setup the
