Yes, I do know that and I have them doing that - they can also go by the backup date as the modified date would be the same date or the day before. However, when performing larger restores or working with a customer to determine which file they want, it can be confusing and time consuming for them.

Lindy a few more thoughts on this: Can you write to the tape drive with tar? If so the problem may be with the mksysb utility itself. I have seen the mksysb utility fail before because someone had deleted the symbolic link to the kernel. This in turn caused the failure of the mkszfile utility and
