All,
I've just set the following enviroment variables on my Linux TSM Server to
another directory: TMP, TEMP, TEMPDIR, TMPDIR and it looked like it was
going to install. But no luck, some temporary directories were indeed
created in the other location but in /tmp ismp001 was still created and

hallo,
Retention is NOT bound to a storage pool, it is bound to backup&archive copy
groups.
Also there is no "copy" functionality for data from a storage pool to another
storage pool.
As you see, your question is worder with less-then perfect precision,
so no precious answer is possible.

Hi all,
I was just checking my activity log on my TSM 4.2 server and noticed something
odd. One of the clients (W2K server with Oracle + an imagebank) did a backup of
2588 files, amounting to almost 9Gb.
I know not that many data modifies in a single day so I checked to be sure, and
indeed:
Hi,
It's a Win2K server. Have you taken into account things like registry
and SYSTEMOBJECT?

I had not taken registry and SystemObject into account, no. But those only

Rick,
The select below suitably tailored for node_name and backup_date will
tell you what was in that backup
SELECT HL_NAME,LL_NAME FROM BACKUPS -
WHERE NODE_NAME='YOURNODE' -
AND BACKUP_DATE BETWEEN '2005-01-04 21:00' AND '2005-01-05 07:00'

John,
Thank you very much. That was exactly what I was looking for. I created a list
of files, I didn't spot anything weird there right away, but I'll check again.
Cheers,
Rick

You can also use the TSM client GUI - Select Restore then Find off the
edit menu - use the "Backed up" criteria to enter the dates/times you
are interested in.

Hey out there,
is there any other possibility than unloading the TSM-DB to "shrink" the dbvol?
Cheers,

Reorganizing the TSM database is a complex kludge which utilizes a
utility classified as a Salvage utility, and subjects your server to

Use command Q OCC DBBO5. It will show you all filespaces and

Richard,
If you cannot make you /tmp filesystem larger, or move it to a larger
filesystem/logical volume, being an "old" UNIX guy (1986+), a trick is to setup
a UNIX link on your server's root / directory pointing to a much larger /tmp
directory filesystem/logical volume. Done this in the past

Hi everyone,
We had a major hardware failure on one TSM server and I ended up needing
to restore the TSM database. Since then, I've been having issues with a
few of the disk storage pool volumes. When I try to back them up or
migrate them I get numerous errors like the following.
ANR1331E Invalid
Why do you want to do this?
We may be able to come up with a different way to satisfy your requirement.

Currently I have my policy set to retain file backups for 1 year. First I do

Hi all,
I have a question about DB2 and TSM backups. We've settled on a policy
that we would like ti implement but I'm having a hell of a time figuring
out how to actual do it. I know that TSM handles API backups from DB2
differently and I'm looking for tips on the best way to automate this
process
Just an FYI - I now know why my ISC installation fails - not enough
memory. I just installed the ISC at another site on a W2K Server SP4 with
0.5GB RAM - the installation failed. So, we "installed" more memory (the
W2K Server was running under VMWare) and the ISC installation went fine
with 1.0GB R
Our plan is to install the ISC and Admin Center on a Windows 2000 server. We
can then very easily remote desktop to this server and run the java applet
there. This should work fine with a 56K line.
I have installed the ISC and Admin center on a Virtual machine running Windows
2000 and Windows
It's also available on the product manuals web site

Wait 24 hours then try again. Something has it locked. These phony locks
have evaporated by themselves for me when I had them.
Call TSM Support. They're good at figuring these kinds of things out.
