Hi,
I'm seeing the following messages on the two volumes of my disk storage
pool. The errors are reported during a migration operation.
10/25/2004 09:14:31 ANR8555E An error (1167) occurred during a read
operation from disk Q:\DISKTO3590A.DSM.

Hello all!
I want make full + diff + log backup of SQL databases from 1 node. I

can associate these schedules with node or I must define on TSM 3 nodes

Sergey,
One (1) TSM node with three (3) schedules is how
you should set this up.
Thanks,

Del, thanks.
It's just that I've read in some manual about setting up several
schedules on one node with several scheduling services and dsm.opt
files, I just couldn't remember the particular case when this is
necessary.

I will be upgrading my TSM Server from 5.1.63 to 5.2.3. Other than making
sure I have a full backup of my database, is there anything else I should
be aware of before upgrading? My server runs AIX 5.2 ML4 in a 32bit
environment.
Thanks,
Chris.
Hi
Yes, having 40 slots will require you to purchase the TSM EE license.
Wether or not you use the slots is irrelevant. You are charged for the
size of the library, not the amount of slots you're using.
The license rules are >40 slots or more than 2 drives.

Hi Listers,
I've got an "adic FastStor LTO Ultrium 1 with a 7 slot autoloader" and
want to drive it with my ITSM 5.2.2.5 for DR-Backups.
The ITSM is running under W2K3-Server. In the device manager of W2K3 I
see the tape drive and an undefined media changer.
Now I've two small questions:

Steve,
This is interesting. In Yr3, if we just remove the remaining 3590s in the

it can hold 3592 tapes?

Hi to all,
I have one question regarding TSM and TDP for Lotus Domino.
I am using Tivoli Data Protection for Lotus Domino to take online backups.
I have performed successfully a lot of restores but currently when i tried

In TSM 5.2 you will need to use "native" windows drivers. Download them from:
ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/devdrvr/Windows/Win2003/IBMTape.W32_6063.zip
Before you install read the readme.txt (that's why is called readme)
You will need latest drivers for your SCSI card also.

Dear All,
Please share your experience on taking open file backup and image backup on

I have been going through documentation and manuals, but there are so many IFs

My scenario is to take cold backup of Oracle 9i on Linux, which is fine, but

You can only take image backups of Linux filesystems if you can unmount
the filesystem. This requirement will prevent you from image backups of
filesystems containing system files, such as /, /var, /etc/, and /usr.

IBM only charges you for what you tell them you are licensing. But if
you cheat, that raises the cost to the rest of us.

That's what I get when I trust my memory. I'm probably thinking about

Well, finally got a statement in writing, (kind of hard to believe..) from IBM
which states.
"The current TSM licensing requirement states TSM will provide tape library support of
UP TO 3 drives or UP TO 40 slots on TSM. Quantities of 41 or greater require an

The same is the para that i have been refering to from the latest redbook.
hmm that means, I can take system files backup too, without any problem with
IMAGETYPE=dynamic, but that will cause trouble only in situations where

I did an upgrade from 5.1.6.3 to 5.2.3.1 without incident. Just
remember that in addtion to the 5.2.3.x code, you'll need a 5.2.0.0 base

Hi all,
I discovered something very strange with one of my nodes today. The management class
configured for this node in the dsm.sys file (set with "DIRMC") is not the MC this
node is sending its data to. I discovered that this node is actually using the
default MC and tape pool.

Also, most Unix directory information is kept directly in the TSM
database, not sent to the DIRMC.
