Checkout without removing (remove=no) them from library. Once again
check them in as status=scr.

Hi,
Try to locate the volume, is in your library or not? Does q actlog show you
anything why the volume became unavailable? Does it have read or write
errors that made it anavailable etc?
If the volume is in your library do an 'upd vol cdfd11 acc=reado', does
your restore completes??

Do a 'q libv * cdfd11', does it say ANR2034E QUERY LIBVOLUME: No match
found using this criteria?
Do 'q vol cdfd11 f=d' to find R/W errors.

I had a similar incident. Our library is not huge, so I opened it, pulled
out all the tapes. Did an audit of the empty library. Then checked all the
tapes back in, and the scratch appeared as scratch and private were private,
etc.
With a big library that would be a real pain.

We are backing up to 3590 tapes. We currently use K (extended length)

We will soon start replacing some of our older J tapes and are trying

This is not entirely incorrect. You must run reclamation on both the local pool (to
reclaim the virtual volumes) and the remote pool (to reclaim the physical space).

It is not stored within TSM; TSM has no email client. Someone on your system has built
a scheduled event (separate from TSM) that does the mailing. Without knowing what OS
your TSM server uses, there isn't any way to tell you where that might be.

How can I drop backups of files on servers that have already been backed up?
Our policy has changed. We are no longer backing up *.MP3 and *.WAV files.
Is there a way I can get them to expire on all my backups? Even for one
server at a time?
I doubt it, but curious.
What kind of failure did you see? If the TDP was able to access and back
up the database,
then it should also be able to restore it. The fact that folders in the
database are encrypted is
transparent to the TDP.
Thanks,

Jack,
You can create a client option set that binds all *.MP3 and *.WAV files to
a new management class that has settings of "1 1 0 0" for the retention
values, and assign it to all of your nodes. Let one backup run, then
change the include to an exclude to expire the last active versions of
You can create a new backup group with zero retention.
(I can't remember, but you might have to leave versions exist at 1)
Rebind the files to the new group
Exclude *.MP3 (Etc)
Include *.MP3 newbackupgroup
run backup.
after backup has completed, remove the include and leave the exclude.

Hi Neil Rasmussen,
Thank for your mail.
I edited option files in directory "C:\Program Files\tivoli\tsm\AgentOBA"
