The TSM4.2 Adminguide states:

Michael,
There is not much to go on here... but since the
"TDPEXCC QUERY TSM" command uses the TSM API, it appears
as if there may be a possible problem with the TSM API
installation or pathing. Take a look at the DSIERROR.LOG file.
If it does not give you any ideas on what is wrong, your best bet
Hmmm, interesting. The 'backups' table in TSM tells us which management
class an object is bound to. For example, a 'select * from backups'
gives us useful things which include:
NODE_NAME, FILESPACE_NAME, BACKUP_DATE and most importantly for you,
CLASS_NAME
You could put together a select query

Well, the select statement returned nothing. Which is correct, because
currently there is nothing in that management class, and if those OS X
filespace didn't get moved to it (backup went by real fast, no volume
rebounds), then a return of zippo is corrent.
Do you think I need to delete the filesp

Two Problems here: First off, you need to register the target database
with RMAN - that should take care of your last error. Secondly, you need
to put the key word "TDPO_OPTFILE" in all caps. Although, it appears to
work for you, I can assure it is not.
The 'ENV=()'; command in RMAN puts the cont
You can go into the restore GUI, navigate to restore a file, and it'll
definitively show you what mgmtclass your file is bound to. If it's still
not rebinding, go into your command line client and do a "query inclexcl" to
check to see if your TSM client is picking up the include statement.

Bill,
You wonn't see any storage pool volume difference between DYNAMIC and
SHRDYNAMIC. You will likely see a difference in the number of bytes
transferred because we're going to transfer the same wortheless data across

Thanks for the information Bill.
Do you register each Oracle database server to the TSM server or do you only register
one name to the TSM server and use a different TDPO_FS name for each Oracle server
and/or Oracle database?

Dale,
I do the latter - I use the same nodename (different from the hostname and
client nodename), register with TSM server once, and different TDPO_FS.
