Hi guys,
I would like to backup a directory that is excluded in the client option file with
exclude.dir option.
I don't want to change the option file. Is there anyway to backup this directory from
the command line?
I am running TSM client 5.1.5 on AIX server
Looking on the IBM site, it says that the H1A drives are supported for both
4.2.2 and 5.1.1 levels of TSM. I'm starting to get confused.

Hi Vyju!
We are developing a tool where you can migrate data from your old system to TSM.
Today are we only support Backup Exec and NetBackup to TSM.
But right now are we got a request to migrate from ARCServe 9 to TSM and later are we
also going to support Legato NetWorker.
If you are intressting
Yes, I see what you are referring to...but if you click on the "IBM

And here the title of the doc is "What are the device driver changes and

Ken,
You will find the server commands DEFINE SCHEDULE and UPDATE SCHEDULE in
the TSM Administrator's Reference. The client ARCHIVE command is
documented in the client
Thanks Andy for the info.
I came in on Saturday/Sunday and found these in the manuals/docs CD-ROM
you indicated.
They worked as stated!
Thanks again!

Been playing with this on a desktop and I get this message on all the
reporting tools if run on the scheduled time. I can right click and select
"refresh using current time" or "refresh using scheduled time" and it will
run. Anyone currently playing around with it seen this?

This happens to me too!
I sent a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and received an immediate answer:
Hi Karsten,
Thanks for the feedback.
A handfull of people are seeing this bug but so far I have not been able

Hello
We are using TSM 5.1 with an IBM 3494 library and I would like to use the
mtlib or mt command to mount a tape in our 3500 drive and do a dd or tar.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike
/usr/bin/mtlib -l/dev/$LMCP -f/dev/$RMT -m -V$VOLSER
where $LMCP is your library, $RMT is the drive you wish to use and $VOLSER
is your tape volser...
so to mount volume ABC123 on drive rmt1 in atl lcmp1 use
mtlib -l/dev/lmcp1 -f/dev/rmt1 -m -VABC123
then -d is dismount...

I had this same issue. Do the following to correct the problem:
1) note the path where operational reporting is installed
2) use Add/Remove programs to uninstall it
3) reinstall to the original location and be sure to choose the Everyone
radio button during setup.

Hi TSMers
Is there anything special that I have to do to get a new Copypool and
Tapepool to be part of my DR piece in TSM?
Thank You in advance for the answers,

Hi,
You have to update the copystoragepools and primarystoragepools in drm.
This will let drm know that it should control the onsite/offsite rotations
of these tapes.

See the commands:
SET DRMPRIMSTGPOOL
SET DRMCOPYSTGPOOL
Note that you have to enter ALL the stgpools you want for each
pool, not just add the new ones.

I think that I have asked a similar question, so I apologize if this
sounds like a repeat.
We are trying to implement IMAGE backups for our larger systems (1TB
plus). We have purchased a new AIX system just for this purpose. Our
experience with IMAGE backups, is pretty much nil !

Chris,
I am assuming you are using the same NODENAME when logging
into the TSM Server. If so, have you succesfully generated
and stored the password for that node on the machine that
you are doing your restore on?
I suggest getting the the following command

Hi Zoltan
We've been told the 3592 announcement is this coming Thursday, whether that's US or
Australian time I'm not sure, but our reseller is very keen to sell them to us unstead
of the H upgrade we'd been planning. I won't steal their thunder by giving away any

Ken,
Now that you have archives working I would suggest you keep a very close
eye on your TSM system.
When I first implemented archives back in the days of ADSM 3.1, we wanted
to keep snapshots of our servers in order to recover beyond the max version
count of the backups. My initial approach wa
Yes, I was in much of the weekend to make the archives work.
I had scheduled them for sat. night.
When I came in on sun. noon to check on them, then didn't work!!! So, I
figured out the prob., then scheduled them for sun. afternoon-night.
When I came in Monday morning, it worked.
