Halleluiah!!! I have ALL these same complaints, too; I hope our friend in
Virginia sees and responds to this! It's a great service he does, but it
needs to be made usable, again.,,, nice experiment, now let's fix it,

Hi ,
I thank all for your suggestions.I removed the mirrors of db and log. There
is a great improvement in the performance.I am recommending the customer to
have non RAID disks for db and log. Then i mirror the db and log.

The Network transfer rate is always whacked out when using client
compression.
We get all kinds of extraordinary rates, one of the highest last night was
139,504.82 KB/sec (all on 100 Mb/sec link).

Do not recommend non-raid ESS disks for TSM that you will mirror. The ESS
defines very large disk groups at a time as RAID-5 or RAID-0 and with the
ESS-800 you can use RAID-1 (actually I think it is RAID-10).
The log is a sequential write only workload for all intensive purposes. In

I share Mark's sentiments... on TWO points:
- if this was resolved, for both users in the discussion, let's share the
results;
- if DIRMC is no longer relevant, I'd sure like to know why! Win2K is
becoming ever more prevalent, and most data center customers go wild with
lots of permission groups (
After upgrading to 5.1.5.1 on AIX 4.3.3 I've been having a ton of misses and
failed reports, not to mention some as In-Progress that are not and

I had 15 failed 25 missed and 6 still show In-Progress.

Hi
Sorry for this old question but I forgot how to redirect a command to a file
on Novell client.
I tried: show opt (clib_opt)/>sys:/tmp/file.txt

Geoff,
Yep... there have been several other reports about 5.1.5.1 -- looks like the
oven was still not hot enough for this one... it's still not quite fully
cooked. We knew base 5.1.5.0 was flawed from IBM bulletins; didn't know
the full extent of the issue, though.
Last I checked, 5.1.1.6 was
I'd heard that 5.1.5 vanilla release was flawed (big surprise!?!) Maybe you
can try the first PTF (5.1.5.1), or patch level, for your situation...
