Yes. That's likely. Tape mount, depending on technology is a minute or
two. Positioning, again based on technology can be zero to 5-6 minutes.
3590 probably much less, DLT perhaps more.

This happened to me once. After pulling what remains of my hair out, I
tried simply restarting the server. That fixed it.
Also remember that the server checks the list of volumes to see if they
can be reclaimed only about once an hour. (It's costly to calculate.) So

Has anyone had a look at a new feature in the TSM5.1 server code that
gives you the facility to consolidate a nodes data - either on filespace
level or node level?
This will address the multiple tapes that a client's data can end up
on over an extended period of time.

Hi All,
I try to Unload my TSM DB, running on OS/390.
My JCL have the follow PARM: ('/UNLOADDB DEV=VTSS2 VOL=V15929,V09232

WHY??
The TSM server is vers. 4.1.3.0.
Now the unload have run for 6½ hour.

David,
Why would you buy a new library?
Expand the 3494 with extra frames, and add more drives in those frames. More than one
server can share a 3494, and it would take a mighty workload to make the robot run out
of puff.

Bo,
It was discovered that unloaddb had the potential to Hang at your TSM Server
level , (PQ47685). The Fix or PTF was released at the Next PTF level, 4.1.4,
and is also included at the 4.2.1.09 level too.

Roger,
I am aware of this problem. The only way I have been able to do this is
with a KSH script that does a dsmadmc command in the backround and do a
sleep for the proper amount of time or an elaborate script to process the
output of the q mount after issuing a dismount against the volume and

sorry for the intrusion, alittle help, please.
Both Standard and Enterprise have been withdrawn. According to my
regional Tivoli BP rep, they have completely abandoned this new
licensing scheme and moved back to the points based licensing.
