I remember from an IBM presentation a few years ago that the technology
behind VTS is TSM. So using a VTS library on a TSM server means stacking
the same intelligent tape management technology for two instances. This
can eliminate some of the benefits.

Well Todd,
This is the TSM default. In order to get the output in the required format
you need to use the -outfile option. This way you will get the output as if
you are at the admin command line.
Like this:

Todd,
This problem occurs because SQLDISPLAYMODE is a parameter set only for the

Todd, here's another way around the problem:
Add -commadelimited as a parm after -pa=.
That causes the output to come out in a wide string, with the fields

Since you are doing this from AIX, it's very easy to handle that output in

You could,

We're running TSM 4.1.14 server on OS/390, TSM 4.2.1 on AIX. Same archive

The regular Backup-Archive client is not a user of the TSM API. The

higher level of abstraction, there are differences. For example, an API

The B-A client does use the API for image backup. I was thinking of just
the traditional file backup-restore functions when I made my original
