Is it possible to backup only the active files to the copypool in TSM

When you do a backup to the copypool it puts all files (active and the
number of versions) to the copypool.

Hi
Has anyone performed an upgrade from TSM3.7.3.8 to 4.2 on a Solaris box.
I have been looking at the install procedure and it treats the upgrade of
any server release prior to version 4.1 as a migrate install. When it says
about removing the previous version of the server software, it says to

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, you will have to define one per stgpool if you want your data to be
segregated. But with reclamation pools with a devtype of FILE, the
space is dynamically allocated and reduced so you don't need space like
you would for a devtype of DISK.

Sorry, I've RTFM but after the post was sent.
"The pool identified as the reclamation storage pool must be a primary
sequential storage pool. "
Which means FILE pool, not DISK.

I highly recommend contacting Tivoli supportIn the mean time, you

Use different SCRATCHCAT and PRIVATECAT categories when you define the

Then server A will refuse to checkin a tape belonging to server B. (Look in

We just ran into the same problem on a 60GB database that we were attempting
to restore to another server. The problem ended up that the SQL server had
"reconstruction" processing that it needed to perform as part of the restore

What is the feasibility of making a copy of my offsite tapes via the AIX command
'tcopy', or other utility, rather than using TSM--another storage pool, doing
the backup, etc.--and take this 'off-site' set of tapes to a diaster recovery

Any suggestions?

Hi,
Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong? I want to restore a total
of 3 directories. Would it be possible that I run it in one command? I have
tried the following but I dont think it works 'cos TSM probably thinks i
want to do a restore to an alternative directory.

I seem to remember that there was an override option to the
command usually used to do the logical remove.
I had to piece a filesystem back together that'd been through
an environemntal cooling failure. The weird part wast that the
fs was relatively intact through it all. No space had been used
