I have a TSM server, where I make a dbbackup every day, and delete old
dbbackup volumes after 3 days, but how can I find the old (just deleted )
dbbackup volume name, so I can retrieve it from vault ??
It is not in volhis list any more, the act log don't say what volumes have
been delete

Sorry, but why do you need an extra additional scheduler. When you work on an NT
box you can execute the backups via a small script (DOS) this can be scheduled
through the server via a command schedule where you specify the complete name
(path + file) of the script (*.bat or *.cmd) in the objects

option is TCPCLIENTADDRESS. You can only use this option if you are running
in PROMPTED mode.

We too have a service that only works with a "box". We send our people to
the service once a month to go through the boxes and bring back tapes. If
you can't do this then your other option is to have two copypools.

Is DSMCUTIL failing with that error?
If I recall this might be an issue with a mix-match
in the installed TSM API version vs. the base client (DSMCUTIL) version.
You may have to get a 3.1.0.8 version of the adsmv3.dll
and put it into the directory with DSMCUTIL.EXE.

But I have heard that you can set up the 3 NIC cards to be independent for
the backups.
My problem is, when we kick off a backup, since these 3 NIC cards on a the
same VLAN, the switch drops the MAC address of the other 2 and thus, floods
the VLAN.
Any suggestions?

That is true. Direct the client to communuicate with the IP of an auxiliary
card. All large quantity data communication from the client to the server will
go to the auxiliary IP, however, the communication from the server will return
to the client via the primary NIC. This is not really a problem
On Linux you can specifiy routes through certain cards. For instance if I have 3
cards with IPs of 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2, and 10.0.0.3 and I want traffic to
10.0.0.11 to go originate from 10.0.0.3 I add a route like such:

When the Exchange agent is installed it replaces the old adsmv3.dll (566KB )
with its adsmv3.dll ( 472KB ). With this dll in place dsmcutil errors out.
If you place the old adsmv3.dll back in the system32 directory, the dsmcutil
will work.

I think this has to do with the atape level. I remember some warning
issued by IBM where you get harmless but annoying I/O error messages
when atape is downlevel compared to the TSM level used, you'd have to
upgrade to the latest atape level (5.3.?) to get rid of t

Trying to learn something about AIX and I'm running into a wall, not

The licenses are on the clients in 3.7. You turn on support, but keep track
of licenses via the paper you got with the license file on the CD.
In 4.1, you actually license the number of Agents on the server side.

I've seen this before. You most likely have your DSM_CONFIG pointed to a
directory.
For example DSMI_CONFIG=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin
instead of DSMI_CONFIG=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsm.opt
Check all of your DSM environment variables.
