Norma,
I think this has to do with the atape level. I remember some warning
issued by IBM where you get harmless but annoying I/O error messages
when atape is downlevel compared to the TSM level used, you'd have to
upgrade to the latest atape level (5.3.?) to get rid of the messages.

Hello:
We have TSM on an AIX system with a 3575 library connected to it.
The environment is the following:
Op. System: AIX 4.3.3.0
Tivoli Storage Manager 4.1.1.0
Library: 3575 L06
Library Microcode level: 2.19
1 3570 Drive
3570 Drive Microcode: 44D
Atape version: 4.0.4.2
TSM seems to work properly. We are able to backup and restore data
and the TSM database. But Activity log shows IO errors as follows:
ANR8311E An I/O error occurred while accessing drive
3570DRV (/dev/rmt0) for GETLOGSENSE operation, errno =22
Devclass is defined as follows:
DEFINE DEVCLASS 3570DC DEVTYPE=3570 FORMAT=DRIVE MOUNTLIMIT=1
MOUNTWAIT=60 MOUNTRETENTION=60 PREFIX=TSMLIBRARY=3575LIB
The library is defined as follows:
DEFINE LIBRARY 3575LIB LIBTYPE=SCSI DEVICE=/dev/smc0 SHARED=NO
And the drive is defined as follows:
DEFINE DRIVE 3575LIB 3570DRV DEVICE=/dev/rmt0 ELEMENT=16 ONLINE=Yes
The operating system recognizes the library and the drive properly with
Atape.
Can anybody help please????
