Hi all,

Hello,
COuld you make a ping on the TSM server and verify its IP address and
then, check the client settings preferences or the dsm.opt file to see
if your communication data are OK.
Please, also check on the server site if your client definition is still
OK.

Basically what IBM is doing is to have a common hardware platform for there
range of servers - AIX,AS/400,OS/390 (Ouch, it hurts me to call OS/390 a
server ;-)).
The new range will be known as the Z900 range - where you'll be able to run
the same hardware platform under different OS's. For those o
The problem with speed in the admin web interface could be related to your
proxy,
if you have one.
We have a similar problem in a customer, the administrative web interface
was very slow,
and when we removed for the TSM server address to go thought the proxy,
the response time was much much faster
Reclaimation of a primary stg can be done with only 1 drive as described
below.
With an (offsite) copy pool it is impossible: for a reclaim of a copy pool,
some objects from some primary pools have to be copied to a fresh copypool
vol (as the reclaimed copypool vol is offsite).
There is no way y
Nope. That is not it. We do not use proxy servers. I do not go through DNS
processing, since the address isn't published.
The OS390 system is in the next room, so the distance/connection is not an
issue.
What I do see in the ADSM log is the constant - SESSION STARTED - SESSION
ENDED - SESSION

You can use the command line or the command line interface in the web client
to send anything to a flat text file and then import it into anything you
want.
Try q actlog > actlog.txt
Or use your own variation. Then import it into any spreadsheet you want.
IMHO this is much easier than the GUI
I have a client running TSM 3.7.1 on Windows 2000. During the backups he
gets the following window to pop up.

This has been an intermittent problem, however this last time he received
the error two days in a row.

David,
This looks like APAR IC24882, which is fixed in the 3.7.2.x client.

those who do not know what I'm talking about, here is the specific error
reported in the pop-up:

Maria,
What does the SQL Server error log indicate?
This could be caused by numerous things, and the key is to find
out why the SQL server terminated the backup. The answer may be

Hi gurus
On a AIX client already TSM software is installed. FileSystem backups
scheduled by the server on OS/390 runs just fine.
Now this AIX has TDP for Oracle installed. How can I register this TDP
client because the TSM
backup/archive client is already registered ???
Is it possible to run sche

I was one that missed the admin GUI at first. I have found that using the
ODBC driver and Access and doing queries on the TSM DB more than makes up
for the loss of the GUI. It may take a while to setup all the queries you
like, but it is very flexible and has many of the same benefits of the old
Is it possible to backup the database on an ADSM 3.1 server and restore the
backup to a TSM 3.7 server? Both servers would be running under OS/390.
In NT TSM/ADSM client installations in the past the "client acceptor" and
"remote client agent" were automatically installed. Now in 4.1 you must use
the "setup wizard" to install it. I see no documentation for installing
this via a command line. I'd like to include this in my installation scri
The dsmcutil utility can also be used to install the client acceptor and
remote client agent. (This capability has always been there.)
The simplest form of the syntax would be:
dsmcutil install cad /node:yournodename /password:yourpassword
dsmcutil install remoteclientagent /node:yournodename
/p
Whoops. correct syntax for installing the remote client agent is:
dsmcutil install remoteagent /node:yournodename /password:yourpassword
I said "remoteclientagent" earlier, which is incorrect.

Greetings,
Which TDP product would be required for an SAP R/3 application on
WindowsNT with Microsoft SQL database? As I understand it, the TDP for SAP
R/3 uses the Oracle RMAN interface. Will this, or will this not, work with
MS/SQL database? Is there something I am missing?
