Hello,
we check events form scheduler and also messages ANE4007E from activity log
every morning. Server administrators get then emails about the errors during

If I read the manual correctly, the following statement should do the job:
dsmc archive -subdir=yes -description="Archive 9/05/2000 for 7 years"
-archmc=ret7yr "d:\project\*" "e:\oracle1\*" "f:\project data\*"
So: quotes around every filespec, separated by blanks.

I believe this came up just the other day on the list. If I understand it
correctly they said that /ora01/app/oracle/admin/ACWP/pfile directory must
already exist on the destination side before this will work. Well that is
what I remember.

We will be using a IBM Shark disk subsystem for our TSM db and

for these purposes on how you have it setup.
1) My first thought for the tsm db, is to allocate small luns on each
raid set, combine them into one AIX volume group.
I have been able to cut the MVS TSM server's use of CPU from a high of 60% of
a 7060-H50 to under 10% of a 7060-H50 during backup of tape storage pools. I
did it by changing two parameters in the server parameter file. One of them,
TXNGROUPMAX, is not the one that made the difference but I am incl
Has anyone implemented or is using "Tape Device and Library sharing". We
have an IBM 3494 ATL with 3590 tapes currently serving two servers. We are
consolidating the two servers and want to share the drives of one with the
server we are consolidating to.

From: Jolley,
Does anyone know when the TAPEIOBUFS parameter was introduced to *SM? I did
a search of my ADSM 3.1 documentation and didn't find this parameter. I see
the PTF on IBMLINK and it looks like, maybe, 3.7. Can anyone confirm? I
could really use some CPU relief on OS390 with ADSM 3.1.

John,
TAPEIOBUFS came in with 3.7. All my storage pools are
on stk 9840s but they are emulating 3490's. I have tapeiobufs set
to 9 anyway; after the storage pools were in use, we
got some 9840's in 3590 mode. I hoped that I could do the dbb
to the 3590s and it would be faster but it wasn't.
Does anyone know where there is a more concise explanation of the fields in

Does this reflect the network traffic or is it waiting for the data to be

Have you checked your TAPEIOBUFS line in your server option file? It comes set
to 9 BUT commented out. I had to uncomment it. The PTF has nothing to do with
performance. I only referenced it because it was the first place I saw that
this option could be used for 3490's. I have no 3590's.

Maria,
It sounds as if you have a corrupted page in your IS.
During a backup, each page of the database is examined
for the correct checksum to verify that the data on
the page is valid. This error usually indicates that the
checksum failed verification.

When you do this remember to define devclass 9840 devtype=ecart. I'm not
sure where this is documented, but I just did it and it works. I vaguely
remember seeing it some time ago, but in looking at help define devclass,
you won't see it.
Helpful hint for the day.
