Hi Eric,
I recently installed the same configuration. I also had a problem. The SAN
DG was installed on an AIX machine and the devices (/dev/rmt0) were
available on the RS/6000. But writing to the tape drive was not possible.
Somehow the SAN DG wants to know what host is hosting him. Platform spe
It is my understanding that the "Process Dirs" indicates the time
ADSM spends examining the objects in the filespace in an effort
to determine those objects that must be backed up. I would guess
that your 1 million files are arrayed across approximately 99,543
directories.
The only way I know of
Debbie,
We ran into this problem when we upgraded the drives. We only had to
change those tapes that were read/write access and in filling status. You
don't want to try to write additional data to these tapes with the upgraded
drives.

Hi all,
What is the procedure to move one node from one domain to another? I tried
the command:
>update node nodex domainy
But when I check it, it still shows the old domain. Please help, thanks.
Best regards,

Has anyone seen this and can tell me what it is? The explanation below is
pretty vague. I've notived this SQL database is not being backed up with the
SQL Client. And when I try to back it up manually this is the error message
I get.

Philip - it didn't give an error because it is a syntactically correct

Geoff,
I have seen this message before. Check the Compatibility level of your
database using the sp_dbcmptlevel command. When I saw this problem, I was
using SQL 7.0, but the compatibility level was 6.5. I fixed it by upgrading
to TDP for MS SQL Server v1.1.2 (IP21873).

Make sure you aren't using the "red" tapes.

Sorry, I posted the wrong fix. Here is the e-mail I got from Tivoli

Hi all,
We have an environment where we'd like to implement a hard cut-off time for
backups to our TSM server. There are some boxes that start and stop a
database or do other pre and post commands that can't afford to still be
doing backups when a certain point in the morning comes up. In fact we

You can do a "cancel session all" and if the clients are out of the backup

We are currently doing it. We actually have three machines using our 3494.
Initially we had two drives on one machine and 10 on the other so we varied
off on the 10 machine the two that the other was using. Now we have both

I would tread very lightly at "sharing drives", but not sharing libraries.
Documentation on partitioning library cats, tapes and drives using
3494/3590 setups should be followed as in the red books. However, don't
believe you'll be all fine and dandy sharing drives.

I know Friday afternoon isn't the best time to ask something big, but here

Question:
on backing up Windows NT4, we've noticed TSM creates the adsm.sys directory
where it dumps the registry and user info/passwords so it can back it up.
This is all fine however is it just me or does this create a huge security
hole? By default on NT4, that directory is created with permis
