Adaptive Differencing?

Does anyone know if the knew TSM 4.1 Adaptive Differencing technology
applies to restores too, or just to backups.  Meaning if I wanted to restore
a file to a client does it pull down the entire file, or just the changes?

Also how does this work with DRM.  Are just the changes sent across via
virtual volumes, or does the whole file get sent.  Looking at this method as
an alternative to geographic mirroring.
