Have you confirmed all of the MS VSS patches are on? Which server
version/level?
99.5% of the time when someone comes to me with VSS error messages, I point
them to the VSS patches page and I never hear from them again.

If I read correctly, supposed to be fixed in 6.2x.

Just where is this fixed?

According to the TSM Problem Determination guide, a number of VSS errors

Our windows spt team is having/getting the following errors when trying to

Cerseweb is Windows 2003 server SP2. I have applied the updates/hotfix
that should have alleviated the problem. KB940349 for Win2k3 post SP2.

I have a solution it seems.
Microsoft KB940184 details repairing corruption to a registry key
concerned with the vss writes.
If you are suffering from VSS errors during TSM backups (and when the
Scheduler starts), and get no output from the VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS
command at the windows cmd line
We have them also with a Windows 2003 R2 standard x64 Edition SP2
client. I agree I don't believe we started having these VSS Errors until
we upgraded to the 5.4/5.5 clients. I', still trying to find out what
patches they need to correct the issue.

We are having the same errors on one of our virtual machines. Running
2003 Enterprise x64. I've done all the suggestions listed, including the
KB940349 patch, and still have the errors. We have an exact clone of
this server and no VSS errors...
