The client we do this on is AIX 4.3.3 with TSM 3.7.0.0. Server (separate) is AIX
4.3.3. with TSM 3.7.4.0. Some people have reported different results, some had it
work with /tmp "after" ALL-LOCAL. Anyway, check that your incl/excl file doesn't
exclude /tmp or that any Client Option Set does
Try running a 'allproc' trace on the client and only backup /tmp. Does this
highlight any issues?
Good luck

Why does ADSM/TSM automatically exclude this filesystem at all?
I'm no AIX guru (just have to backup this boxes) but it's not easy to
understand
why the ADSM design is different between platforms. On windows all temporary
directories
and files are included.
In my opinion ADSM/TSM shouldn't exclude

It doesn't work on the AIX TSM 3.7.2.0 client.
Doing 'dsmc show inclexcl' yields:
Excl All /tmp/.../*
despite there being no /tmp Exclude spec

We use DOMAIN all-local /tmp and it works.
ADSM client 3.1.05 and 3.1.06
Is this a problem only with newer versions?
If yes is this considered to be bug or a feature?
Kind regards
Try: dsmc incremental -subdir=yes /tmp/sumpin/
That works w/ AIX 4.3.2 & ADSM client v3.1.0.7!
Is the TSM client v4.1.x "Broken, As Designed"?

We only needed this done on one client. It is 3.7.0.0 client on AIX 4.3.3. I recall
it didn't work one way and when I tried the other way it did. Maybe version problem
or I just had a "glitch".

We solved this one here. In your dsm.opt file on client if you hgave a DOMAIN
statement modify it and if not (DOMAIN ALL-LOCAL is default) then add it.
DOMAIN /tmp ALL-LOCAL
This backs up /tmp and all-local. NOTE: If you put /tmp after all-local it won't work.

The product should allow the customer to do this if the customer wants
to, though the developers will not allow us to do it
The backup of /tmp was discussed some time ago. I remember a post from the
"Using the Backup-Archive Clients for UNIX" manual stating:
all-local
Backs up all local file systems except LOFS file systems and LOFS
through automounter. This is default.
The /tmp directory is not incl
